Shift Manager

Direct Reports: Product Team Lead, Pack Team Lead

Biscuit International UK is the leading specialist supplier of own‑label gluten‑free biscuits and cookies in the United Kingdom. Located in Gateshead, our production facility operates three lines, with an annual output exceeding 4,300 tonnes annually in plain, chocolate, and sandwich biscuit formats. We’re seeking an experienced Shift Manager to join our Production team in Gateshead and take responsibility for the safe, efficient and effective delivery of manufacturing operations on shift.

Reporting to the Operations Director, this role leads Product and Pack Team Leads and their teams, ensuring production plans are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of health & safety, quality, food safety and people management.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead and control all manufacturing activity on shift to deliver OTIF, quality and cost targets

· Manage and support Product and Pack Team Leads and their teams

· Drive a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture across the shift

· Deliver production plans within budget, labour and efficiency targets

· Evaluate daily performance and implement proactive improvement actions

· Ensure GMP, hygiene and audit‑ready standards are always maintained

· Lead people processes including absence management, holidays, training and development

· Drive learning culture and continuous development across teams

· Lead RCA activity for non‑conformances and implement corrective actions

· Collaborate cross‑functionally with Technical, Engineering, Hygiene and Supply Chain

· Support and deliver continuous improvement and project activity

Skills & Experience:

· Experience leading teams within a manufacturing or FMCG environment

· Strong people leadership and performance management capability

· Good understanding of health & safety and food safety requirements

· Experience driving productivity, efficiency and cost control

· Confident communicator with strong organisational skills

· Ability to work logically, systematically and under pressure

· Lean or continuous improvement experience desirable

· Food manufacturing experience desirable
